Lunge test

by admin on April 2, 2012

The lunge test is a test used to assess a wide range of athletes in different sports. The Lunge test is a weightbearing measurement of the range of motion of the ankle joint. Research has shown that the Lunge test is predictive of injury in athletes. The Lunge test probably has more validity that the non-weightbearing tests as it is weightbearing and it has been linked to this injury prediction. The lunge test has been shown to also be a reliable measure of ankle joint range of motion. There is some controversy about the lunge test because it does not keep the subtalar joint neutral during the measurement and some dorsiflexion is available at the subtalar joint. However, given that the lunge test has some validity and good reliability, this may not be an issue.
